What Constitutes a right standing for my salvation?
Jim Cunningham
I Wonder if a person claiming to be a
Christian can have any confidence that he is saved based on
where he stands in his belief's
concerning Christ?
On this site (The Strong Delusion ) we
are attempting to share information dealing with what traditional
Christianity
would consider dangerous material in areas of end time
events from a biblical perspective.
What concerns me as we process this
material is this.
If I believe that angels of god may use
a UFO for the purposes of their ministry and yet believe
that Christ is my only hope of
salvation, does my belief in the UFO issue disqualify me of my
hope in Christ ?
If I believe in a Post Tribulation
rapture will that also disqualify me of my salvation in Christ?
Will my relationship with Christ be
considered as worthless if I believe that Christ is my sabbath
instead of Sunday or Saturday?
Throughout the centuries men have
jostled for first place in many applications of theology each
using the same point of reference { the
bible } in Hebrew and Greek } to stake their claims to lordship
over biblical doctrine.
If you have not figured out where I am
going with this let me try a little harder to explain.
{ example }
Mike Heiser says no way Jose' ( my paraphrase ) to the
possibility of Gods angels using UFO's at the Red sea or
in the taking up of Elijah by a Chariot of
fire with horses of fire, he says the bible will not allow that interpretation.
{ see Blogging with Dr Barry part 3, this site by Michael Heiser }
Dr. Barry Downing on the other hand
says he sees no problem with considering that possibility,
each person sincerely makes their
points in their manifold presentations and writings.
{ See Hermeneutical Rape by Dr Barry Downing, this site }
For those of us who believe that Barry may be right in his premise of a godly application to biblical
skyward manifestations, the question
should be ask,,,,are we lost and without hope if we see this as a
possibility?
Scripture tell us the heavens are
inhabited.
Rev
12:12 Therefore
rejoice, ye
heavens, and ye that dwell in them.
What changes about the
gospel of Christ if we accept that as a fact?
Why is it necessary to
make a ethereal interpretation of what simply
appears to be a physical
reality?
You may have figured out this is a
tongue in cheek rhetorical question.
