1973, written 36 years ago
David Wilkerson’s statements are followed by media references (in italics).

  1. Economic Crash Coming
‘There is worldwide economic confusion just ahead. In my vision this is the clearest thing I have
seen’Not only is the American Dollar headed for deep trouble, but so are all other world currencies. I
see total economic confusion striking Europe first and then affecting Japan, the United States, Canada
and all other nations shortly thereafter.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Often mocked for predictions that seemed outlandish at the time ‘ big banks will fail, Fannie Mae will
go bankrupt’these outliers’were among the first to describe key parts of the U.S. financial meltdown.’
    The Wall Street Journal
”$8 trillion in U.S. stock market losses; $6 trillion in housing-value declines; about 5 million jobs lost,
either 3.6 million lost or the lost opportunity for the jobs that were necessary for the increased
population during this period; 3 million foreclosure filings…’ The New York Times, 03/03/09
  2. Everyone Will Be Affected
”A recession of such magnitude that it will affect the lifestyle of nearly every wage earner in America
and around the world.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘The net worth of American households fell by the largest amount in over a half century of record
keeping during the fourth quarter of last year.’ Associated Press, 03/12/09
  3. Owners of Western Currency in Trouble
‘Countries that now control huge amounts of Western currency are going to be in very deep trouble also
‘ without a doubt, there are lean years ahead full of monetary confusion and despair. How soon is not
clear, but it is not far away.’David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘The U.S. sought to ease Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s concern about the security of his country’s
investments in U.S. government debt … President Barack Obama is relying on China to sustain buying
of Treasuries amid record amounts of U.S. debt sales to fund a $787 billion stimulus package and a
deficit this year forecast to reach $1.5 trillion. Investors abroad own almost half of all U.S. debt
    outstanding.’ Bloomberg, 03/15/09
  4. New World Monetary System
‘There will develop a call for revamping all world monetary systems into one uniform system.’
David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘European Central Bank council member Ewald Nowotny said that a tri-polar global currency system is
developing between Asia, Europe and the US and that he is skeptical the US dollar’s centrality can be
    revived.’Bloomberg Financial Times, 10/19/08
  5. Economists Confused
‘The world’s greatest economists will be at a loss to explain the confusion and an international crisis of
fear will develop.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘It is no surprise that the overwhelming majority of economists ‘ Ben Bernanke apparently among them,
have been as surprised by the train wreck now hurling toward our economy as has been the laity.
Economists are at a loss regarding how to avoid the train wreck’ no [one] would ever suspect that the
economics profession would be as unprepared and helpless to deal with that calamity as the profession
has shown itself to be.’The Daily Princetonian, 02/08/09
  6. False Boom
‘A false economic boom will precede the recession’but it will be short lived.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The
    Vision & Beyond’
    Oct. 1, 2007 ‘ Dow rockets to all-time high, closes above 14,000
    Mar. 2, 2009 ‘ Dow at twelve-year low closes under 7,000
  7. A Few Good Years to Prepare
‘The next few years (from 1973) will be among the most prosperous in the history of mankind…Sales
will continue to break records and people will spend more than ever in modern history.’ David
    Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Family net worth had hit an all-time high of $64.36 trillion in the April-June quarter of 2007 but has
fallen in every quarter since that time.’ Associated Press, 03/12/09
  8. Uncontrolled Credit Debt
‘Credit debt will become nearly uncontrollable. I see, very clearly, just a few years of tremendous
affluence and continued economic prosperity. Inflation, costs and wages will spiral higher and higher. ‘
David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘…Up to 45 percent of the world’s wealth has been destroyed by the global credit crisis.’ Reuters,
    03/10/09
As the political climate sours, banks’ creditors get nervous, Economist, 3/19/09
  9. Bankruptcies of Major Corporations
‘I believe we are going to witness the bankruptcies of some of this nations major and most popular
corporations. I see tremendous difficulty arising for credit corporations. There are going to be many
people unable to pay off their heavy obligations to major credit card companies, causing near chaos.
Thousands of small businesses will also be forced into bankruptcies.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision &
    Beyond’

Image, Linens ‘N Things, Circuit City, etc.
Credit Unions With $57 Billion in Assets Seized; 3 Banks Fail , Bloomberg, 3/21/09
  10. Government Panic
‘The United States government is going to ‘overreact’ to the confused economical developments … I see
a flurry of near-panic decisions being made by various government agencies ‘ but these hasty efforts to
shore up the economy will backfire.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
”Officials at the Federal Reserve, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Treasury
Department are to blame for publicly losing confidence in the very economic system they are supposed
to protect. The Fed, the Treasury and the SEC appear to be in a state of panic.’
    The Wall Street Journal, 10/11/08
‘I now believe that the United States government went into full panic mode in September, 2008 and
continues in panic mode to this day. This has serious implications for the future direction of the
economy. Those in government who truly understand the current situation must have serious doubts as
to whether the United States financial structure will survive in any form close to what it is
    today.’Economic Policy Journal, 2/19/09
  11. Auto Industry Hit Hard
‘The auto industry is going to be hurt badly. Makers of recreational vehicles are going to get hit very
hard.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Just weeks after the Bush administration and Chrysler back from the brink of near certain bankruptcy,
much of the domestic auto industry is once again at the precipice.’
U.S. News and World Report, 3/15/09
GM, Chrysler May Need More Aid Than Requested, Rattner Says, Bloomberg, 3/21/09
  12. Building Industry Setbacks
‘The building industry is going to face many setbacks. Housing starts will level off. There is a terrible
squeeze coming to the building industry.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Since 2004 when builders on the Business Journal’s Top 25 list constructed 2673 homes’the number of
home starts dropped 61% through the end of 2008.’

The global housing market goes from bad to worse, Economist, March 19, 2009
Real Estate in Crisis, Las Vegas Sun, 3/21/09
  13. Gold Will Not Provide Security
‘The price of gold is going to rise astronomically but it will not be sustained over a long period of
time’neither silver nor gold will offer real security … Gold hoarders are going to get hurt ‘ badly. This is
one of the most significant predictions in this book.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
The London P.M. Fix price for gold in 1973 was $65 per ounce; in March 2008 it reached an all time
high of $1,002. Currently sitting at $970 per ounce.
  14. Suicide by Overdose
‘Economic setbacks and confusion will catch many unprepared for the consequences. Suicide will
follow. Some very well-known people in the business world are going to commit suicide through
overdoses of narcotics.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Recent weeks have seen a spate of suicides by some of the most financially powerful people in the
    world.’ Newsweek, 03/14/09
  15. Confusion for the ‘Positive Thinking’ Preachers
‘Great losses, confusion, and reverses will shatter the thinking processes of many well-meaning people
who falsely believe that their successes and economic well-being are the result of their own positive
thinking. Jesus Christ Himself was an advocate of right thinking. But many good men have become
worshippers of the power of the mind.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘The poison of positive thinking’self-help culture helped create the credit crises.’
    Daily News, 12/26/08
  16. The United States to Be Blamed
‘Although economic actions in Europe will trigger the coming recession, the United States will be
blamed by most nations for what happens. France will become one of the most vicious anti-American
nations in the world. Politicians and businessmen in Europe and Japan will place the blame on
Washington and the American bankers.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘The Chinese premier, Wen Jiabao, left little doubt that Beijing blamed the United States for the
economic breakdown. ‘Inappropriate macroeconomic policies,’ an ‘unsustainable model of development
characterized by prolonged low savings and high consumption’, the ‘blind pursuit of profit’ and ‘the
failure of financial supervision’ all contributed, he said.’
    The New York Times, 01/28/09
  17. Recovery From Recession
‘There may be a full recovery’ but the world economy will continue in confusion until the time of the
Antichrist’. There will come a time in the future when men will be obsessed with buying, selling,
planting, marrying, and divorcing’but it will be a time of false prosperity.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision
    & Beyond’
‘A sharp rebound in bank shares and easing worries about the economy pushed stocks to their best week
since late November’. The market shot up in one week as it might in some years, with major indicators
chalking up gains of around 10 percent.’ MSNBC, 03/13/09
  18. Drastic Weather Changes
‘The world is about to witness the beginnings of great sorrows brought about by history’s most drastic
weather changes, earthquakes, floods terrible calamities ‘ far surpassing anything ever yet witnessed.’
David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘The eight warmest years on record (since 1850) have all occurred since 1998 with the warmest year
being 2005.’ Environmental Protection Agency website, 2/18/09
‘88,011 people were killed in earthquakes in 2008, with the largest number dying in China and
Pakistan. In 2000, 231 people died worldwide in earthquakes.’United States Geological Society
  19. Outbreaks of Epidemics
‘In the aftermath of famine, floods and earthquakes, mankind faces the threat of new epidemics. There
will a major cholera epidemic sweeping through various underdeveloped countries. India and Pakistan
face the threat of untold thousands dying from epidemic and starvation.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision
    & Beyond’
‘Some 88,000 people have now been affected by cholera in Zimbabwe, the United Nations World
Health Organization (WHO) announced today. Nearly 4,000 have died from the disease, which is
caused by contaminated food or water, the agency said.’ UN News Centre, 03/06/09
‘Cholera death toll in India rises: The death toll from an outbreak of cholera in the eastern Indian state
of Orissa has risen to 115, officials say. The outbreak has affected Rayagada, Koraput and Kalahandi
districts where more than 2,000 people have been admitted to hospitals, officials say. Doctors say
contaminated food and water are to blame for the epidemic.’
    BBC.com
  20. Famine
‘Famine is coming to the world in our generation and millions will die of starvation” David Wilkerson,
    ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Last year the number of the world’s hungry surged from 854 million to 967 million due to the steep
climb in prices of staple foods.’ UN News Centre, 03/09/09
‘Snowless winters will bring dismal crop production and famine conditions in central and western
Russia. India, Pakistan and all of southeast Asia, and Africa will be especially hard hit.’
‘Snowless Winter in Russia: With Russia having the weirdest snowless winter in living memory,
Moscow is literally importing tons of snow from Eastern Siberia to provide for an international skiing
event. Russia would normally be covered with a thick layer of sparkling snow by the end of November,
but this year vast regions of the country’have not had a flake of snow with just ten days to go before the
new year.’ The Hindu, India’s National Newspaper, 12/23/08
  21. Depletion of Relief Funds
‘Relief and disaster funds will become nearly depleted. Insurance companies will face huge losses.’
David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘The Red Cross has depleted its disaster relief fund and is now borrowing money to pay for moving
volunteers and supplies across the country to help with what the spokesman said were silent disasters.’
    The Chronicle of Philanthropy, 06/25/08
Charitable foundations fear new restrictions, Economist, 3/19/09
  22. Triple-X-Rated Movies on TV After Midnight
‘Be warned ‘ In the not-too-distant future, the most wicked, X-rated porno movies will be shown on
select cable networks after midnight…People will pay to have these erotic movies piped directly into
their living rooms. If left unguarded, little children can switch on a knob and be exposed to the vilest
kind of sexual perversion’R-rated movies will be showing in prime time on network television. Porno
movies on cable television will become so popular and so much in demand that the major networks will
try to compete by showing films with as much sex and violence as they can show within legal limits.’
David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘It’s one of the hottest industries in America. Easier to order at home than a pizza, it’s arguably the most
profitable enterprise in cyberspace. And with estimates as high as $10 billion a year, it boasts the kind
of earnings every American business envies.’
    Frontline
  23. Sex Education to Get In on the Act
‘Students will be told that homosexual love is normal and that sex acts between unmarried is desirable’
‘if each has a high regard for the other’.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘The Montgomery County Board of Education approved new sex-education lessons yesterday for the
eighth and 10th grades that teach what it means to be homosexual’. Approved by a unanimous vote, the
lessons mark the first time Montgomery schools will introduce the topics of sexual orientation and
homosexuality. The materials, including a new 10th-grade condom-demonstration DVD, will be fieldtested in a handful of middle and high schools in spring, barring intervention by the courts.’ The
    Washington Post, 01/10/07
  24. A Homosexual Epidemic
‘When society no longer rejects their sin as abnormal and fully accepts them and encourages them in
their abnormality, and when the church no longer preaches against it as sin and consoles them in their
sexual activities’there no longer exist any hindering forces. The floodgates are open, and homosexuals
are encouraged to continue in their sin. In my vision, I have seen these two roadblocks being swept
away’you can expect more than one homosexual scandal in very high places.’ ‘The homosexual
community will become so militant and brazen that they will flaunt their sin on network talk shows
    very shortly.’
‘A steamy memoir by former New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey, who left office amid a gay sex
scandal, has become a best seller on two lists.’ Fox News, 09/28/09
‘The main thing is to talk about gayness until the issue becomes thoroughly tiresome. In the early stages
…the masses should not be shocked and repelled by premature exposure to homosexual behavior itself.
Daytime talk shows also remain a useful avenue for exposure. But to speed things up we might
consider a bold stratagem to gain media attention. (The homosexual agenda in an article, ‘The
Overhauling of Straight America’).’Guide Magazine, October and November 1987
‘Homosexual content prominent on primetime TV, study says…’Baptist Press, 08/08/07
‘Media portrayals of homosexuals were originally both rare and stereotyped, and most gay characters
were comic in nature. Portrayals of gay characters are finally reaching a new level of realism… ‘BBC,
    06/30/03
  25. A Falling Away
‘Moral standards among many church people will be shattered. Husband – and wife-swapping will be
on the increase, and great numbers of young people will simply live together without getting married’A
constant barrage of sex and nudity by all the media will vex the minds and souls of the most devout
children of Christ. It will cause the love of many to grow cold. It will lead to carelessness and
faithlessness. It will be the major cause of a great ‘falling away.’ Those who stand against this flood of
filth will be few, and they will be looked upon as ‘out of step’ with an enlightened society and a more
relevant church’Easy abortion, the pill, and a growing sexual permissiveness will contribute to a
revolution of immorality” David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Most Americans think culture is becoming more immoral, and they view the media – both
entertainment and news – as prime culprits, according to a new survey’. If the media continues to
‘singularly promote’ secular values while undermining orthodox faith and values, it will be very
difficult to reverse Americas moral decline, said the National Cultural Values Survey, released
yesterday by the Cultural and Media Institute (CMI) of the Media Research Center.’The Washington
    Post, 03/08/07
  26. A Last-Ditch Attempt to Deceive God’s Chosen
‘The number one temptation for the last Christian will be prosperity’I see millions of Christians being
deceived by prosperity. The last Christian is going to be afflicted by prosperity and tested by it more
than through poverty’ I see automobiles, clothes, motorcycles, and all kinds of materialism becoming a
bigger hindrance to the Christian than drugs, sex, or alcohol. I see thousands of Christians attached to
and obsessed by things. They are so wrapped up in materialism that they become lukewarm, blind,
weak, and spiritually naked. Yet in the midst of all their materialism, they are miserable and totally
dissatisfied.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Hard Questions For ‘Prosperity Gospel’. A Televangelist Lives In The Lap Of Luxury — But Now He’s
Under Investigation… In one TV sermon after another [a well known pastor] implore[s] viewers to sow
the seeds of their faith by following God’s word – and donating dollars, promising a 100-fold return in
happiness and wealth…’ CBS news, 01/29/08
  27. An Increase of False Doctrines
‘Men will prefer false doctrines and new ideas rather than the truth of God’s Holy Word. They will
crowd around teachers who will give ‘new thoughts and revelations’. Men and women will turn to the
prophecies and teachings of men rather than giving heed to the doctrines of truth. They will give heed
to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
  28. Sex Drug
‘I believe a new sex drug will be concocted and distributed by the black market to teenagers and
students. I will break down moral restraint and lead thousands of teenagers into promiscuous sex
activity. David Wilkerson. “The Vision & Beyond”
Ecstasy gained popularity in the 1980s. ‘Adolescents and young adults use [ecstasy] to promote
euphoria, feelings of closeness, empathy, sexuality and to reduce inhibitions.’ US Drug Enforcement
    Administration
  29. A ‘Spirit of Persecution’ Is Coming
‘I see an hour of persecution coming such as mankind has never before witnessed’. An antichrist spirit
will enter the hearts of certain men in high places, in government, and in the judicial system, causing
these officials to engage in legal maneuvers designed to harass independent churches, missionaries, and
ministers. There is already much evidence that this harassment has now started. I see a time coming
when nearly all evangelical missionary projects, all religious radio and TV programming, and all
incorporated missionary societies will be so closely monitored, questioned, and badgered that they will
be cautious of expanding in any area.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘But three-quarters of evangelicals believe they are a minority under siege and nearly half believe they
are looked down upon by most of their fellow citizens, according to a 2004 poll.’
    The Washington Post, 03/29/06
  30. Homosexuals and Lesbians Welcomed by super church
‘Homosexual and lesbian ministers will be ordained and given places of authority in this church union,
and will be heralded as a new breed of pioneer introducing new concepts of love and evangelism’I see
coming, in nearly every major city in the United States and around the world, homosexual and lesbian
churches catering exclusively to the spiritual needs of their own kind, with full recognition and support
from organized religion.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘A national assembly of Evangelical Lutherans urged its bishops Saturday to refrain from defrocking
gay and lesbian ministers who violate celibacy rule…’ Fox News, 8/12/9
‘A lesbian Methodist minister said she was relieved by her acquittal in a church trial over her sexual
orientation ‘ but so was the pastor who prosecuted her, and even the bishop who filed the complaint.
[The Pastor] married her partner of nine years last month in Oregon, where officials have been
allowing gay marriages.’ CBS News, 03/24/04
  31. Persecution From Hollywood
‘Look for Hollywood to step up its attack against true religion with more expos’-type movies’more and
more moviemakers will attempt to debunk puritanical moral values. Gospel-preaching churches and
ministers will come under special attack, while at the same time the occult and witchcraft will be
glorified and sensationalized’TV comedy shows will become bolder and bolder in poking fun at Christ
and true Christians.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Hollywood vs. Jesus…Hollywood, no longer satisfied with trying to undermine Christianity, was taking
a shovel, pickax and video camera and trying to physically destroy it.’ Time, 03/01/07
‘Anti-Christian Crusade…. By now, the oft-recurring negative portrayals of Christianity in major
Hollywood movies have become hackneyed and predictable…. The idea being that pagan peoples ‘
unencumbered by the suffocating forces of Christianity ‘ were/are happy, passionate folk, able to live
life to the fullest.’ National Review On-line, 11/30/09
  32. Persecution Through Taxation of Churches
‘There is coming an attempt to tax churches and church- related organizations. Atheistic forces, with the
help of the American Civil Liberties Union, will push this matter all the way to the Supreme Court. A
temporary setback will not stop them from pushing for Congressional action. A legal setback by the
courts will not stop their long-range action…. Church-related businesses will be taxed first ‘ The IRS
may, one day, become one of the most powerful weapons against the church.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The
    Vision & Beyond’
‘Churches to defy IRS on sermons ‘ Thirty-three preachers across the country say they will defy tax
laws Sunday by endorsing specific political candidates from the pulpit and preaching about their moral
    qualifications.’ The Washington Times, 09/27/08
  33. Satan Ministers
‘There will be ‘Satan evangelists’, mostly young people who will actually preach about the power of
Satan and who will zealously work at making converts. Ouija boards, tarot cards, horoscopes, and
occult books will be passed around and devoured by young people seeking truth.’
‘Satanic cults are on the rise in an unexpected location – Rome, says a Catholic priest. ‘There is a greater
openness towards the devil,’ said Father Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican’s Chief Exorcist, to the Christian
Broadcasting Network. Father Pedro Barrajon, a Catholic priest in Rome, stated, ‘Satanism and the
occult are in fashion.’ The overwhelmingly Roman Catholic nation of Italy has an estimated 800 satanic
cults, with more than 600,000 followers.’ Christianity Today 04/25/08
  34. Killer Diseases
‘Jesus said that in these days of tribulation, ‘Men’s hearts will fail them for fear of watching what is
happening upon the earth’. In America, the number one killer disease is already heart failure. Medical
authorities say venereal disease is no longer just an epidemic ‘ it is an uncontrollable pandemic of
frightening proportions. Scientists warn of new strains of germs, viruses, and vermin that are resistant
to poisons and chemicals and threaten to upset the balance of nature.’
David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Over 7400 new HIV infections each day in 2007
More than 96% are in low and middle-income countries
About 1000 are in children under 15 years of age
About 6300 are adults aged 15 years and older of whom: almost 50% are among women
About 45% are among young people (15-24)
For every two people put on treatment 5 others are newly infected’
UNAIDS, World AIDS Day Report, AIDSOUTLOOK/09
  35. Burning Oil Fields
‘Before the great holocaust, there will be smaller holocausts. The oil fields of the Middle East will be
ablaze, and the smoke will rise night and day as a warning of the greater holocaust yet to come. There
will be bombs falling on oil fields, shipping docks and storage tanks.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision &
    Beyond’
‘At least 500 oil wells set ablaze by the Iraqi Army”The New York Times, 03/16/91
  36. Governmental Bankruptcy
‘New York City faces economic and social disaster. The sword of judgment hanging over the city will
fall suddenly. Overnight, changes will happen, changes never before known to the American mind.
Bankruptcy will happen. A temporary reprieve will falter. Short-range encouraging signs will be
swallowed up in lightning-like events that will bring on bankruptcy. America’s queen city will declare
bankruptcy.’ David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘To put it simply, New York City is broke. Its economy is still reeling from the slowdown on Wall
Street, and it’s still feeling the effects of September 11th. Now the projected deficit for the fiscal year
that begins in July has grown to $3.8 billion.’ NPR Morning Edition, 04/16/03
‘Gov. Paterson, convinced the state faces its worst fiscal crisis since the mid-1970s, will deliver the
grim news in an unprecedented special address to New Yorkers.’ New York Post, 08/28/08
  37. Rising Unemployment
‘What God did to the city of Jerusalem in the time of the prophet Zechariah, he will do again to the
cities of America. When building the temple, the inhabitants were reminded what God did when
judgment was upon them: ”there were no jobs, no wages, no security’crime was rampant’.’ (Zechariah
8:10, LB). David Wilkerson, ‘The Vision & Beyond’
‘Unemployment last month hit a 25-year high of 8.1 percent and the latest weekly snapshot on new
claims for jobless benefits showed the pain was intensifying as employers slashed payrolls to cope with
    the shrinking economy.’ AFP, 03/13/09
California Jobless Rate Jumps, Wall Street Journal, 3/20/09
    Also in July 2001
‘Six weeks prior to the disaster, the Holy Spirit forewarned our pastoral staff that a calamity was
coming. We had scheduled several major events for the weeks ahead, including our Missions
Conference and Youth Convention. But God’s Spirit prompted us to cancel them all. Instead, we felt
stirred to call our congregation to prayer.
During this visitation from the Lord, the Holy Ghost revealed there was a reason for the weeping in our
hearts. We were being so moved because a tragedy was coming. A severe calamity was coming to the
nation. And even though we didn’t know what it was, our hearts were stirred to intercede concerning it.
    Then suddenly, the calamity struck.’
‘Terrorists unleashed an astonishing air assault on America’s military and financial power centers
yesterday morning, hijacking four commercial jets and then crashing them into the World Trade Center
in New York, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania countryside.’
    The Washington Post, 09/12/01
