Death Sentence for Christian Pastor?

Posted by Lynn Marzulli on September 30, 2011

International pressure is growing on Iran to overturn a death sentence imposed on a Christian pastor for apostasy.

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, a member of a Protestant evangelical church in the Islamic republic, faces death by hanging for refusing to abandon his Christian faith.

The 34-year-old pastor of the Church of Iran was born a Muslim but became a Christian after his 19th birthday.

Under Iran’s version of sharia law that makes him an apostate — Muslims cannot renounce the faith into which they were born.

Don’t worry it can’t happen here…. or can it?  Youcef Nadarkhani stated in an Iranian court that he would not renounce his faith in Jesus Christ.  In the Republic of Iran converting from Islam to any other religion carries the death penalty… how’s that for tolerance.  This man needs our prayers and I’m asking all of you who read this BLOG today to fast one meal or whatever you choose, and pray for mercy.  His life is on the line and he is willing to forfeit it rather than to deny his savior.  I wonder how many of us would do the same?

As I point out in Politics, Prophecy & the Supernatural, Iran is ruled by one set of supernatural experiences – the Prophet Mohammed receiving revelation from the angel Gabriel (I don’t believe this was the Gabriel from the Bible) – and from this the Koran was birthed, followed by what is now Sharia law.  However, what we see is that this system is intolerant of any other religion.  Please contrast this with freedom of religion in the United States, where Mosques are being built and run down churches being converted to places of worship for Moslems.  However in Iran, they won’t tolerate one mans conversion and in fact may kill him over it.  Why is this one mans conversion seen as such a threat to Islam?  What are the Imams in Iran afraid of, that Christianity will spread?  How can one mans change of heart affect the billions of Moslems?  If Iran executes Youcef it will be a black mark that all the world will see and take note of.

In closing today’s post.  Youcef faces the ultimate test of his faith and so far he is willing to die for it…. Prayer can change events and situations…. let’s pray for Youcef….
