Images From God a Random Inquiry
by James Cunningham
While taking in the discussion concerning UFOs I find myself faced with a dilemma
that being; What am I do do with the images from God that he created in biblical text?
In the Old testament God made it very clear to the Israelite's that they were not to create
any images regarding their spiritual contemplations unless directed by God to do so.
Deu 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Deu5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
I say unless directed by God to do so because of the Instruction by God to build the Ark of the covenant and all the related article of its content.
We are told in scripture that God said:
Gen 1:26 Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, andover the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
This is one of the first indications that we may gain some idea as to the appearance of what our creator and his contingent may look like, (God himself laid the marker to such a consideration.)
I am not going to try to address the issues of the omnipresence of God here I will only state that he implies we have a place where he identifies his likeness to us.
In this text God has provided us with an image, is it actually a correct image or only a metaphor?
Later in Genesis the Lord appeared to Abraham:
Gen 18:1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.
Gen 18:2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them,he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
In this setting God appeared as a man along with angels that also looked as men; we know this for that is the imagery that is provided by the text of scripture.
I am establishing all of this to come to a place to address a problem that seems to be a stumbling block for a number of Christians who are researching the UFO phenomena .
In Exodus 13:21: God again appeared in a way where we are given an image from heavenly contact it is called a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
Ex 13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them in the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
Ex 13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
If there is any doubt that God was inside the Image it is later stated very clearly that God
was inside a object called a cloud.
Ex 19:9 And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you and believe in you for ever
Ex 14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
We know that the object ( the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire image)went with the children of Israel in the wilderness for 40 years.
This is the imagery that God gave us through his inspired word.(for those who believe it is inspired)
When Elijah the prophet was taken up to heaven he was described as being taken up in a Chariot of fire with horses of fire.
2Ki 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder;and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
In all of these manifestations something that today we may call a craft or system for transportation was being used as a image to relate the working and presence of God and his angels.
Whenever God was getting ready to leave the children of Israel after their 40 year journey he said this........Ex 23:20 Behold,I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
Ex 23:21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.
Ex 23:22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
At this point an Omnipresent God actually left ( a study in and of itself ) in this text he stated why :
Ex 33:2 And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
Ex 33:3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
Having all of this imagery I stand puzzled as to why many seem to be unable or unwilling to address the fact that at least godly angels can and do use today what we have titled a UFO to conduct the business of heaven.(The issue is NOT the METHODOLOGY of the Manifestation, it is the MESSAGE and CONDUCT from the Contact)
I personally think this gives Christians a better presupposition point of reference to then turn and explain that Fallen Angels who most likely still have available to them the same resources they had before their fall. We now with our biblical point of reference can determine whether the manifestation's we face are evil or good based upon their conduct when making contact with us.
There really is no need to complicate the interpretation of this phenomena with thoughts that it can only be evil, when it is obvious from scripture that Godly angels also use a system to conduct business for our heavenly Father and his Christ all the while knowing Satan and his angels can do the same.
The simple test for determining who is contacting and engaging us is the same as God has provided for our fallen creation to test and try the spirts with....Christ simply said: you shall know them by their fruits.
